BALTIMORE - The
season's second episode of America East On Campus, the conference's half hour
magazine show that examines what's happening around America East on the playing
field, in the classroom and in the community and highlights the league's
extraordinary stories, will begin airing on Saturday, Feb. 2 on Time Warner
Cable Sports.
The episode can be seen at 10 a.m. on Saturday on TWCS
in New York. The show will also have airings on Comcast SportsNet in New
England and Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN) in the country's Mid-Atlantic
region.
Eric Frede hosts this episode from Baltimore in the
Aquatics Center at UMBC where he begins with a segment on Retriever standout
diver and America East champion Andrew Eckhoff and his quest for perfection.
The America East Swimming & Diving Championship takes place Feb. 14-17 at
the University of Maine.
From there, the show takes us to the University at
Albany, the host site for the America East Men's and Women's Basketball
Championship March 8-10. The program takes an in-depth look at the reigning
America East champion women's program, including interviews with captains Ebone
Henry and Julie Forster and head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson. While at
Albany, Frede also visited with the men's program and leaders Jacob Iati and
Mike Black.
While in Baltimore, Frede caught up with first-year men's basketball head coach
Aki Thomas, who took over the Retrievers just a few days before the team's
first practice and tells us what the biggest challenges are in being a
first-time head coach.
Frede sits down with two-time America East Women's
Basketball Championship Most Outstanding Player, Courtnay Pilypaitis, who is
making her return to the University of Vermont to start her coaching career at her
alma mater.
Another first-year men's basketball head coach is
featured, as America East On Campus mic'd up Binghamton's Tommy Dempsey for the
team's road trip at Maine, a game that saw Jimmy Gray hit a game-winner with
less than five seconds to go.
America East On Campus is produced by Cod Rock Media of Kittery, Maine, which
is owned by Frede and Dan Hannigan. Four original episodes will be produced and
distributed this year on CSN, MASN and TWCS.
The show will also be available in the All-Access section of AmericaEast.com
and on the conference's YouTube page following the debut airing. iPhone and
Android users with the America East On the Go premium app can also watch the
show on those devices.
