The Horizon League hosted the first WLS in 2001, then expanded to include women throughout the state of Ohio beginning in 2003. The 2005 WLS was instrumental in the formation of the first ever NCAA Presidential Task Force on life and work balance. WLS has continued to grow, and by 2011, over 1,000 professional and students have been enriched through their participation in the symposium.

During the symposium attendees will learn more about the new Work-Life Integration Honors Program, which is set to launch in 2013. NACWAA appointed a special committee to explore affordable regional leadership training programs around the country using the WLS model. The NCAA has provided substantial leadership and funding. Karen Morrison (NCAA) and Patti Phillips (NACWAA) have been integral to the success of the WLS expansion.
