In
an effort to honor the African-American faculty and staff members from each of
the nine schools affiliated with the America East, the conference is putting
together a nine-part video series featuring one prominent African-American from
each school. These features will highlight the connection each of these
individuals have on campus as well as the surrounding communities.
With
a personality that drives from experience and a story that is inspirational to
all that listen, Randall Edourad will show you what it means to dream big.
Serving as the Director to the Education Opportunity Program at Binghamton
University, Edourad has high dreams and hopes for his program for years to
come.
Since
arriving to Binghamton University, Edouard has started BEP, the Binghamton
Enrichment Program. The BEP is a four week summer extensive program that helps
incoming Binghamton University students become acclimated with the university
while learning math, english, and writing comprehension. As Edouard states, “We
try to provide students with a microcosm of what they will face here once the
figurative fall bell rings.” Since the start of the program in 2009, Binghamton
University’s graduation rate has risen to 73.68% and Edouard has high hopes of
increasing that rate each year. “If you look at successful people in life,
you’ll see that they stood on the shoulders of others to get where they are. No
one does this alone,” as he said.
As
an individual who dreams big and is dedicated to his students’ success, Randall
Edouard is an ideal representative from Binghamton University for Black History
Month.
