New for the 2011-2012 seasons, the America East Daily Word, a collaboration between AmericaEast.com and AExtra, will recap the previous day's games and on goings on our nine campuses and provide links to previews, recaps, features and exclusive coverage.
It
has been quite some time since the University of Vermont had a president.
The
search is now over and Vermont has its man. Thomas Sullivan, J.D., will be the
next president of UVM.
Sullivan
comes to Vermont having spent the last seven years as the vice president for
academic affairs and provost at the University of Minnesota. He also spent the
same amount of time at Minnesota as the Dean of its law school.
Many
Catamount coaches are excited about the hiring including women’s basketball
head coach Lori Gear McBride. She tweeted recently, “Exciting news about our
new leadership at UVM. Great to have someone so passionate and accomplished to
lead us!”
Even
the governor of Vermont, Peter Shumlin, spoke highly of Sullivan and the
leadership ability he brings to Burlington.
Sullivan
will officially begin his duties in July.
