Judith Josiah-Martin from Maine is featured for Black History Month - AmericaEast.com

In an effort to honor the African-American faculty and staff members from each of the nine schools affiliated with the America East, the conference is putting together a nine-part video series featuring one prominent African-American from each school. These features will highlight the connection each of these individuals have on campus as well as the surrounding communities.

Judith Josiah-Martin has a niche for helping others. Being an experienced educator and administrator, Judith brings a standard of overwhelming achievements to the University of Maine through many experiences. Before her career began at Maine, Josiah-Martin served as the Clinical Director for Crossroads Center, an international treatment facility in Antigua. She also served as an adjunct professor to the University of the West Indies. Through these many opportunities in her life, Judith has been a great mentor and passionate worker towards all students at the University of Maine.

As someone who is compassionate about helping others and breaking down barriers that affect multicultural awareness,
Josiah-Martin is in a position that not only helps her reach out to every student on campus no matter race, gender, or sexuality, but also creates awareness on campus through various programs. Currently serving as the Director of the Office of Multicultural Programs and the Supervisor of GLBT Services at the University of Maine, Josiah-Martin also serves as a board member on several organizations as well as being a dynamic speaker that bring a positive and optimistic mentality to all discussions.

As an individual who mentors and speaks out to create awareness on numerous subjects, Judith Josiah-Martin is an ideal representative from the University of Maine for Black History Month.
