New for the 2011-2012 seasons, the America East Daily Word, a collaboration between AmericaEast.com and AExtra, will recap the previous day's games and on goings on our nine campuses and provide links to previews, recaps, features and exclusive coverage.

After a 6 a.m. run around campus, Binghamton’s new President Harvey Stenger began his first day leading the university.

Stenger spent most of his first day speaking with university vice presidents about Binghamton’s NYSUNY 2020 proposal and later met with media members.

The President has a short term goal of “meeting everyone” and then strategizing on how to take Binghamton to the next level.

“Whether I shake their hand, or we have a long conversation, or we chat over lunch, my goal is to meet everyone,” Stenger said in an interview.

In that vein, Stenger plans on eating the in dining halls at least once a week when the students return to campus. There, he can get a better understanding about what is happening with students on campus.

Several television news stations covered Stenger’s first day at Binghamton. News Channel 34 has some video highlights while Action News 12 and Inside Binghamton both published stories.
