DURHAM,
N.H. – Episode 2 of season seven of America East On Campus, the
conference’s half hour magazine show highlighting what’s happening around the
conference, debuts this weekend on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. on Comcast
SportsNet throughout New England with subsequent airings on CSN and the Mid
Atlantic Sports Network (MASN).
The season’s second episode is set on campus at the
University of New Hampshire where we meet Chris Zarkosie, a student-athlete at
UNH who is part of a unique program called Operation Hat Trick. Hatched in 2007
by UNH, Operation Hat Trick distributes hats to wounded and recovering members
of the military, many of whom have suffered head traumas. Episode two also
takes a look at how America East student-athletes are helping their
communities.
Host Eric Frede also visits the University at Albany to
discuss the strong start to conference play for the women’s basketball team led
by Julie Forster and Ebone Henry. Frede then ventures to Orono, Maine for a
look at the worldly travelers on the Maine men’s basketball team, which
features players from six different countries on its roster. The episode
concludes with a feature on the inspirational Bailey O’Brien, a Boston
University diver who has come back from cancer twice to compete for the
Terriers.
America East On Campus is produced by Cod Rock Media of
Kittery, Maine, which is owned by Frede and Dan Hannigan. Four original
episodes will be produced and distributed this year. Comcast SportNet in New
England will debut all four episodes, while several re-airings will also air on
the network. MASN, located in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area, will also
carry the show, as will Time Warner Cable in New York.
The show will also be available in the All-Access section of AmericaEast.com
and on the conference's YouTube page following the debut airing. IPhone and
Android users with the America East On the Go premium app can also watch the
show on those devices.
