New for the 2011-2012 seasons, the America East Daily Word, a collaboration between AmericaEast.com and AExtra, will recap the previous day's games and on goings on our nine campuses and provide links to previews, recaps, features and exclusive coverage.
While
Thursday night’s ESPN3 game between Vermont and Albany is grabbing the major
headlines, there are other games on the docket this evening with plenty of
intrigue attached.
The
Hartford and Maine men matchup in Orono should be a spirited contest in a
rematch of a quarterfinal game in last season’s tournament. The Hawks took all
three meetings with the Black Bears last year including that quarterfinal game
and have won three of four overall to sit just ahead of Maine in the league
standings. This matchup goes down in “The Pit” in Orono and the Bangor Daily
News has some pregame coverage.
Another
game to watch out for on the men’s side is Boston U. at New Hampshire. Boston
U.’s last loss before rattling off 11 straight to close out last season came to
New Hampshire in Durham. The Daily Free Press elaborates on that loss and how
the Terriers aim to not let it happen again. New Hampshire, meanwhile, closes
out a stretch of games against the top four teams in the conference standings
with tonight’s tilt.
The
Boston U. versus New Hampshire women’s game in Boston has also shaped up to be
an exciting one. Mo Moran and company are the only conference unbeaten standing
while New Hampshire has played well against the likes of Hartford and UMBC.
Expect a quality game from The Roof tonight. The Daily Free Press has more.
