Daily Word: Busy weekend with Irene looming - AmericaEast.com

New for the 2011-2012 season, the America East Daily Word, a collaboration between AmericaEast.com and AExtra, will recap the previous day's games and on goings on our nine campuses and provide links to recaps, previews, features and exclusive coverage.

As Hurricane Irene tracks her "extraordinary" course up the eastern seaboard, the America East is busy gearing up for the unofficial start of the fall season.  Field hockey, volleyball, women’s soccer and men’s soccer all in action tonight.

Rain and wind?  Soccer weather, people.

But before we get into previewing all of tonight's action the Hartford women's soccer team took to the pitch last night in Worcester, Mass., against the Crusaders of Holy Cross.  The Hawks struck in the 60th minute when Caitlin Alves put home a loose ball after a scramble in front of the Holy Cross net.  The win, Hartford’s first on the young season, improves them to 10-1 versus the Crusaders all-time.
