The Boston University women and Binghamton University men
learned their draws for the upcoming NCAA championships. Both America East
champions travel to the Golden State to take on a pair of Pac 10 teams. The
Terriers will face University of California at Berkeley in their first-round
matchup while the Bearcats will face UCLA. The brackets were revealed via
webcast live on NCAA.com Tuesday evening.
The Boston University women will head to the West Coast to
take on the Golden Bears of University of California at Berkeley. California is
the No. 9 seed in the tournament and will host for the first two rounds of the
tournament. In the other first-round matchup in Berkeley, Calif., University of
Southern California will take on St. Mary's College (Calif.).
Boston U. earned an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament
after winning the America East Championship Sunday. The Terriers, the No. 2
seed in the conference tournament, pulled out a 4-3 victory over No. 1
Binghamton to earn their 18th
consecutive America East title.
Binghamton heads to Los Angeles to play the UCLA Bruins. The
Bruins are making their 35th
consecutive NCAA tournament and will
host the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament. University of Mississippi
will play University of California-Irvine in the other pairing at UCLA.
Binghamton sealed its fourth straight trip to the NCAA
tournament when it beat No. 2 UMBC in the America East Championship Sunday. The
Bearcats were the top seed in the tournament and beat UMBC, 4-1, to take the
conference title for the fourth straight year and seventh time in nine years.
The NCAA tennis championships begin May 13-15 at host sites.
