In the season finale of "America East Online", the
show profiles the latest stories and achievements of the America East
Conference. America East Online is a 20-minute web-only show which features all
nine of the conference's campuses and highlights athletics, academics and leadership.
The episode begins with a profile of the Albany women's
lacrosse team, which defeated Dartmouth to earn its first-ever NCAA Tournament
win last weekend. With the victory, the Great Danes improved to 18-0 and remain
the only undefeated team in women's lacrosse. In the segment, Albany head coach
John Battaglino discusses why this team has had so much success and what it
will take to knock off Northwestern and advance to the Final Four.
The next segment focuses on 2010 America East Co-Pitcher of
the Year Stony Brook junior pitcher Nick Tropeano, who recently was named to
the Golden Spikes Award watch list. Interviews with Tropeano and head coach
Matt Senk provide background on what makes Tropeano such a unique Major League pitching
prospect and how pitching in the prestigious Cape Cod League helped his career.
The recently completed 2011 America East Softball
Championship is profiled in the next segment, as the Albany Great Danes
defeated Boston University, 3-1, to earn their first conference championship
since 2007. Albany head coach Chris Cannata and the tournament's Most
Outstanding Player Brittany MacFawn discuss what it meant to win the conference
championship and the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
The episode concludes with the "Best of U." series,
which this week takes a look back at some of the top moments of the 2010-11
athletic year. Highlights from UMBC's men's soccer victory in the NCAA tournament
to the performance of the van Dalen sisters at the NCAA Cross Country
Championships are included in this gegment that demonstrates the great
accomplishments of America East athletes both in the classroom and on the
playing surface.
The show, hosted by America East's Max Mandel, aired 19
