In this edition of "America East Online", the show
profiles the latest stories and achievements of the America East Conference.
America East Online is a 20-minute web-only show which features all nine of the
conference's campuses and highlights athletics, academics and leadership.
The episode begins with a feature on the new facilities
being built at Stony Brook, which includes the Dubin Family Athletics
Performance Center, as well as renovation to the baseball field and track
facility. Director of Athletics Jim Fiore discusses the impact these
facilities will have on Stony Brook athletics and how important the generosity
and gifts from former student-athletes has been.
The next segment is a profile of Boston University senior
outfielder April Setterlund. Setterlund, who last season was selected as a
First-Team All-American, and head coach Shawn Rychcik discuss how important her
leadership and production at the plate has been for this young team.
The student-athlete profile this week features an interview
with University at Albany women's lacrosse defensive midfielder Nikki
Branchini. Branchini, a senior, earned America East Player of the Year last
season, while also earning a SUNY Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete award. In the
interview, Branchini talks about what it has been like to be a part of this
historic season for the Great Danes, as well as her interest in attending law
school after graduation.
The episode concludes with the Best of U. series, which this
week highlights the partnership between America East and College For Every
Student (CFES). The segment features interviews with numerous America East
Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) members, as they recently came together
with CFES and America East to help cleanup Jackson-Mann Middle School.
The show, hosted by America East's Max Mandel, will be
available every other Wednesday throughout the rest of the academic year. Fans
can watch the web show at the America East Zone on AmericaEast.com, as well as
on the league's social media web sites such as YouTube and Facebook.
