In this edition of "America East Online", the show
profiles the latest stories and achievements of the America East Conference.
America East Online is a 20-minute web-only show which features all nine of the
conference's campuses and highlights athletics, academics and leadership.
The episode begins with a profile of the Binghamton pep
band. The leader of the Binghamton pep band, Mo Taylor, discusses the formation
of the pep band and the role it plays in the passion and excitement it
generates for fans in attendance.
With four new head coaches working the sidelines this season
in men's and women's basketball, the show continues its four-part series of
profiling the first-year coaches. This week, "America East Online"
speaks with Albany head coach Katie Abrahamson Henderson about some of the main
influences she has had throughout her coaching career and what made the head
coaching job at Albany so appealing.
The student-athlete profile this week features "America
East Online" host Max Mandel in an interview with Binghamton junior guard
Andrea Holmes and freshman guard Jasbriell Swain, both of whom are starting for
the Bearcats this season. In the interview, Holmes and Swain discuss why they
left Memphis, Tenn., to play basketball at Binghamton and their shared interest
in pursuing a career in law once they are done playing the sport they love.
The episode concludes with the Best Of U. series. This Best
of U. profiles the Stony Brook men's basketball program and its work with the
Special Olympics. Head coach Steve Pikiell and Director of Basketball
Operations Ricky Lucas discuss the impact this event has on the program and the
great relationships that have formed between the Special Olympics athletes and
the players on the Stony Brook team.
The show, hosted by Mandel, will be available every
Wednesday throughout the basketball season. Fans can watch the web show at the
America East Zone on AmericaEast.com, as well as on the league's social media
web sites such as YouTube and Facebook.
