NEW HAVEN, Conn - The Binghamton University men will play UMBC in the America East Men's Tennis Championship final while the Bearcat women will take on Boston University in the women's championship match tomorrow at 11 a.m.

The Binghamton men, who seek to defend their title tomorrow, remained dominant this season, capturing their 19th straight win with a semifinal victory over Boston U. The Bearcats won, 4-0, led by junior Sven Vloedgraven (Lochem, Netherlands/Isendoorn College) and sophomore Gilbert Wong (Hong Kong/Diocesan Boys School). Vloedgraven and Wong posted a decisive 8-2 victory over Boston U. at the top doubles spot.  Vloedgraven then blanked the Terriers at the No. 1 singles spot to capture Binghamton's first singles win of the day while Wong claimed a spot in the championship final for the squad with a 6-3, 6-0 win at third singles.

The Bearcats will face a Retriever squad that battled to a hard-fought 4-3 upset over the Seawolves. In doubles action, the Retrievers split the top two doubles matches with Stony Brook, finally capturing the point with a come-from-behind 9-8 victory at third doubles.  The squad got off to a quick start in singles, claiming a win at No. 4 singles before Stony Brook rallied back with three victory of its own at the No. 1, 5 and 6 spots. Senior Fredi Voorman (Talinn, Estonia/Audentes Private) then came up big for the Retrievers winning the deciding match in a third set at second singles.

But Stony Brook fought back hard in singles, claiming the first singles victory with a win at the No. 3 position. Boston U. then rallied back to capture three straight matches at the No, 2, 6 and 4 slots. Sophomore Petra Santini (Sibenik, Croatia/Gimnazija Za Dopisno Obrazovanje Birotehnika) clinched the match for Boston U. with her three-set win at the No. 4 spot.

The Terriers will face top-seeded Binghamton, which earned a 4-2 decision over UMBC today.  The Bearcats battled to win the doubles point, losing at first doubles but capturing wins at the No. 2 and 3 positions.
