BALTIMORE -- America East On Campus, the conference's half hour magazine show that looks at what's happening around America East on the playing field, in the classroom and in the community, is back for its sixth season. This season's debut episode will air Friday, Dec. 17 at 4:30 p.m. on Comcast SportsNet throughout New England and subsequently on Wednesday, Dec. 22 at 1:30 p.m.
The season debut is set at UMBC, where host Eric Frede, lead announcer for America East basketball television contests, spent the day with UMBC President Freeman Hrabowski, whose school was named the nation's top up-and-coming university by U.S. News & World Report for the second straight year.
The episode will take a look back at the fall season, which produced an NCAA victory in men's soccer, a top-10 team finish in women's cross country and six All-Americans. The show will also examine the league's unique relationship with Newman's Own, the presenting sponsor for the America East Men's & Women's Basketball Championship, as well as the organization's Campus Community Challenge.
America East On Campus is produced by Cod Rock Media of Kittery, Maine, which is owned by Frede and Dan Hannigan. Six original episodes will be produced and distributed during the 2010-11 season. Comcast SportNet in New England will debut all six episodes, while several re-airings will also air on the network. MASN, located in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area, will also carry the show, as will Time Warner Cable in New York.
The show will also be available in the AmericaEast Zone at AmericaEast.com and on the conference's YouTube page following the debut airing.
Episode 2 of On Campus will debut Monday, Jan. 10 at 1:30 p.m., while episode 3 will air on Monday, Jan. 24 at 1:30 p.m., both on Comcast SportsNet. Air dates for MASN and Time Warner Cable will be announced at a later date. Stay tuned to AmericaEast.com for the show's complete 2010 schedule.
