In the fifth episode of "America East Online", the show
profiles the latest stories and achievements of the America East Conference. America
East Online is a 20-minute web-only show which features all nine of the
conference's campuses and highlights athletics, academics and leadership.
This episode begins with a profile of the University of
Vermont and the presentation of its sixth consecutive Academic Cup. Interviews
with Director of Athletics Dr. Robert Corran and Associate Athletic Director
Joe Gervais give insight into the great success that the student-athletes at
UVM have had both on the playing surface and in the classroom. The segment also
features footage from the presentation of the Academic Cup and an interview
with sophomore cross-country athlete Debbie Isen.
With four new head coaches working the sidelines this season
in men's and women's basketball, the show continues its four-part series of
profiling the first-year coaches. This week, "America East Online" speaks with
Hartford head coach John Gallagher about some of the key mentors in his career
and the path he travelled to be a Division I head coach.
The student-athlete profile this week features "America East
Online" host Max Mandel in an interview with Boston University women's soccer player
Lisa Kevorkian, who was recently named an All-American. In the interview,
Kevorkian discusses making an impact in her first season at Boston U. and also
talks about her aspirations following her playing career.
The episode concludes with the Best Of U. series. This Best
of U. profiles the UMBC SAAC organization and its involvement in a shoe drive
for the Soles4Souls Foundation. Junior third baseman Curtis Schickner and
senior lacrosse goalkeeper Natalie Rau discuss the impact of Soles4Souls and
how UMBC became involved with the organization.
The show, hosted by Mandel, will be available on Wednesdays every
other week, and weekly beginning January 4, 2011. Fans can watch the web show
at the America East Zone on AmericaEast.com, as well as on the league's social
media web sites such as YouTube and Facebook
