BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Season 5 of America East On Campus, the conference's half hour magazine show that looks at what's happening around America East on the playing field, in the classroom and in the community, will make its debut in New England on Saturday, Jan. 16 at 2 p.m. on NESN, directly following the Hartford-Binghamton's women's contest. The show will also air in the Mid-Atlantic region on Sunday, Jan. 17 at 1:30 a.m. on MASN and subsequently on Jan. 19 at 7:30 p.m., Jan. 20 at 11:30 a.m. and Jan. 21 at 7 p.m.
The season debut is set at University of Vermont, where host Eric Frede, lead announcer for America East basketball television contests, sat down with two-time America East Men's Basketball Player of Year Marqus Blakely and talked about his quest for a third trophy and more importantly a first conference title.
The episode will get fans up to speed on teams and players to watch during the current men's and women's basketball season, which kicked off league play this month. Frede also sat down with America East Commissioner Patrick Nero and discussed, among other things, the conference's first-ever combined basketball championship at University of Hartford in March and the league's newly formed partnership with Newman's Own Corporation. The show will also feature UMBC's men's soccer tandem Andrew Bulls and Levi Houapeu and their importance in the Retrievers' unexpected run to the league title game in the Best of U segment.
America East On Campus is produced by Cod Rock Media of Kittery, Maine, which is owned by Frede and Dan Hannigan. Four original episodes will be produced and distributed during the 2009 season. NESN will debut all four episodes, while several re-airings will also air on the network and MASN, located in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area will also carry the show. All five segments of America East On Campus are also available at the conference's You Tube page.
Episode 2 of On Campus will debut January 26 at 7:30 p.m. on NESN and January 29 at 1:30 a.m. and again at 1:30 p.m. on MASN. Stay tuned to AmericaEast.com for the show's complete 2010 schedule.
