CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- In the final tune-up before this weekend's 2009 America East Golf Championship, Albany's Annemarie Kissane (Albany, N.Y./Albany) took home medalist honors in Hartford to win the America East Performer of the Week.
Kissane, a freshman, sat in second place behind teammate Corrin Conroy entering the final day of the Hartford Invitiational, but came back to take medalist honors on the fourth hole of a playoff. Kissane's individual scores of 79 and 80 for a two-day total of 159 helped the Great Danes secure the team title out of a field of six squads.
The America East Championship will take place at Shaker Ridge Country Club in Loudonville, N.Y. this weekend, April 25-26. Albany is the defending team champion and the host of the invite.

Albany won the Hartford Invitational with a 36-hole team total of 657, shooting a 325 and fending off a strong Fairfield push on the second day. The Great Danes were led by freshman Annemarie Kissane who took medalist honors on the fourth hole of a playoff. Kissane finished with a two-day score of 159. Sophomore Corrin Conroy, who led all individuals after the first day of competition, finished tied for third with a 161. Her first round score of 78 was the lowest 18-hole score of the invite. Jessica Signorelli finished tied for ninth with a score of 168. Amanda McPhee (174) and Stephanie Klein (175) rounded out the Albany finishers in 17th and 18th places. The Great Danes have not finished any lower than second-place as a team in either of their spring events.
The Boston University women's golf team placed 10th with a
two-day score of 681 at the third-annual Roar-EE Invitational hosted by
Columbia ... Senior Allison Hamilton (Falmouth, Mass./Falmouth) paced the
Terriers with a 167 to finish t-39th individually ... Classmate Lauren Stong
(Miami, Fla./Palmetto Senior) had the second-best result at t-44th with a 170 ...
Hamilton and Stong will play No. 1 and 2, respectively, in their final event at
the America East Championship ... Last year, Hamilton took sixth and led the
Terriers to a third-place finish.
The University of Hartford women's golf team hosted its
annual Hartford Invitational on April 20-21. The Hawks finished fifth in the
field of six with a 36-hole total of 694. Freshman Emily Linn (Englewood,
N.J./Englewood) led the Hawks in the final round, shooting an 84 (+12) to
finish tied for 11th at 169. Junior Paige Gauthier (Claremont,
N.H./Stevens) tied for 18th overall at 175 while both junior Sadie Heald
(New Haven, Conn./Hopkins) and senior Megan Claxton (Calgary, Alberta/Bishop
O'Byrne) tied for 20th at 176. Junior Kara Sikorski (Hatfield, Mass./Smith
Academy) rounded out the scoring for the Hawks at 183 and tied for 27th
overall. Three Hartford golfers also competed as individuals. Junior Catie
Dillman (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) recorded her top finish of the
season (14th) with a total of 172. Freshmen Kelsey Walsh (Falmouth,
Mass./Falmouth) and Marissa Kallaugher (East Longmeadow, Mass./East Longmeadow)
had 36-hole totals of 173 (T-15th) and 188 (32nd), respectively. Hartford
will wrap up the spring season at the 2009 America East Championship on April
25-26 at Shaker Ridge Country Club in Albany, NY.
