Three Things I Can’t Live Without:
1. My family and friends ? They all keep me grounded and give me so much support. I can’t imagine accomplishing all that I have accomplished without them in my life. 2. My cell phone ? It acts as my life line...it keeps me in touch with everyone that is important in my life. 3. Summertime and Warm Weather ? It gets very cold up here in Vermont and the winter are very long. So, I really love the warm weather when it comes. It is relaxing and fun for me to be able to hangout outside and have fun.
Q. Why I Chose University of Vermont:
A- I chose UVM because the athletic program here is just incredible. Also, the academic standards of the University are high. But...much more than that...I fell in love with the team. My teammates are the greatest. Being from Vermont, I feel a great sense of pride being able to play for my home state.
Q. Favorite class and why:
A- I have always liked my English classes. I am a huge fan of reading. I read all the time and even when I’m not in school. I also like to write so I enjoy all the writing assignments that come with taking English.
Q. One thing I have learned at UVM that I will carry with me for the rest of my life is:
A- I have learned that it isn’t what you know that is the really important thing, it is the attitude that allows you to want to learn more.
Q. My Dream Job, other than the NBA/WNBA, is:
A- My dream job would be to work as a surgeon. I am not quite sure yet if that is exactly what I want to do, but I do know that I want to go into medicine. Being able to fix people with my own two hands would be an amazing job and such a rewarding life experience.
Q. The person, other than my parents, who has had the most influence on me is, and why:
A- My cousin and best friend Vanessa has influenced me a lot. We are the same age and grew up living just five minutes away from each other. We did everything together. She challenged me in everything we did and pushed me to be a good as I could possible be. She is also always there for me. College is the first time we have ever been apart, but we talk all the time. Things haven’t changed.
Q. The best thing about being a Vermont Catamount is:
A- I am a very proud Vermonter and being able to represent Vermont and playing for my home state is quite an honor for me.
Q. Most memorable moment as an athlete:
A- I will always remember winning my high school championship in the final second by a singe point in my senior year. You couldn’t have written a Hollywood script any better. My teammates and I had been playing together since we were eight and it was a great way to end our high school careers together.
Q. What I did this week as a student (classes, tests, projects, study hall):
A- This week was the beginning of the second semester, so I had all new classes. It was exciting to meet all of my new classmates and my professors. I am looking forward to studying new subjects. The home work is just now starting to be assigned so it won’t be long until I am busy every night. This semester I am taking English, Anthropology, Calculus and Philosophy. It is going to be a challenging semester.
Q. What I did this week as an athlete (practice, games):
A- This week we had practice on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with a game on Wednesday that we won. So it was a good week for basketball.
Q. Based upon my experiences growing up, my advice for young kids about school and athletics is:
A- I have always tried to work as hard in my school work as I did in my sport. This balance is going to help me for my entire life. Another thing I advise is to try and always find enjoyment in all the things that you do. When you can do this, I find that I am much happier and more committed.
Q. Why I am looking forward to the America East Basketball Championship:
A- College basketball is still very new to me, so I find every game extremely exciting. I get extra excited when I think about the Championship game. I have never competed at such a high level and the thought of playing at that level, in such an important and significant game, is awesome to me.
