Q. Why I Chose Stony Brook University:
A- I chose Stony Brook University because the academic reputation was awesome and I really liked the coaches. I also liked how the team made me feel very welcomed on my recruiting visit. I knew I would like it here.
Q. Favorite class and why:
A- My favorite class so far at Stony Brook has been my Theater class with Val Lantz-Gefroh. I never thought that I would do well in an acting class, and I wanted to drop it the first day, but my academic advisor made me go another day and try it. I am so happy that I stayed in it because the teacher and the class helped me to open up in ways I never thought that I could or have done before. I really enjoyed it.
Q. One thing I have learned at Stony Brook that I will carry with me for the rest of my life is:
A- One thing I have learned at Stony Brook that I will carry with me for the rest of my life is always use time management. You never want to be late for anything here and I learned that in my short time at Stony Brook.
Q. My Dream Job, other than the NBA/WNBA, is:
A- My dream job, other than the WNBA, is to own my own sports complex with an indoor recreation center and clothing store.
Q. The person, other than my parents, who has had the most influence on me is, and why:
A- The person other than my parents who has had the most influence on me is my best friend. I don’t have older siblings so she has always been like a big sister to me. I really look up to her.
Q. The best thing about being a Stony Brook Seawolf is:
A- The best thing about being a Stony Brook Seawolf is that only a small group of people on this planet can call themselves a mythical creature that brings good luck to all those around it. How many of your friends can say that?
Q. Most memorable moment as an athlete:
A- My most memorable moments as an athlete were my days in AAU. I played against other girls who went to really big time Division I programs and playing against them, and competing, made me prove to myself that I can hang with them.
Q. What I did this week as a student (classes, tests, projects, study hall):
A- This last week we started study hall and got into a routine. I’ve missed a lot of math classes for games so I spent Sunday, our day off, catching up and seeing the math tutor. I also am taking Psychology so I did a lot of reading for that class because there aren’t assignments in there, just a few tests.
Q. What I did this week as an athlete (practice, games):
A- Last week we played Boston and even though we scored well, we ended up losing the game. We came back and had a good practice to prepare for Binghamton. We played hard against them on Saturday in front of a great crowd for National Girls and Women in Sports Day. There were so many young fans there and I’m glad we could get the win for them. We’ve won 4 of our last 5 games and we’re ready to take on Vermont tonight for our Pink Zone game.
Q. Based upon my experiences growing up, my advice for young kids about school and athletics is:
A- Based upon my experiences growing up, my advice for young kids about school and athletics is to always put school first. You are a STUDENT-athlete and you need to always remember that. You should complete your work in the classroom and that will open up so many doors for you after high school. There are so many more opportunities, in school and in basketball, if your academics are what they should be.
Q. Why I am looking forward to the America East Basketball Championship:
A- I am looking forward to the America East Basketball Championship because I want Stony Brook to be in the Championship game. We definitely have the potential to compete in the tournament and make a run to the end!
