Three Things I Can’t Live Without:
1. Family and Friends ? Without my family and friends the things that I do wouldn’t be as fun at all. They are the people that you can share anything with. They are ones who love you and are always there for you. 2. Basketball ? This has always been a very big part of my life. It has been an excellent stress reliever to me. Basketball has always been a place where I could always hangout with friends. I find basketball a sport that has great competitive traditions. 3. Movies ? Movies are a source of entertainment for me. I like to relax to a good movie. It is a chance for me to escape reality for a little bit. I like all kinds of movies and I like to watch the good ones over and over again.
Q. Why I Chose University of Vermont:
A- I really like the environment here at UVM and Burlington. It is within an hour’s drive from my home so my family can still make it to all of your home games and even have the opportunity to make it to most of the away games. UVM is a great school and I really am honored to be able to represent my home state.
Q. Favorite class and why:
A- I like calculus because I love working with numbers and formulas. I like solving equations and then being given immediate feedback as to whether the answer is right or wrong.
Q. One thing I have learned at UVM that I will carry with me for the rest of my life is:
A- I have learned a lot about how to manage my time. Time management is a very important thing in life...it helps with school, your job, family, friends, sports and everything else. I am so busy with all the things that being involved with a varsity athletic program plus keeping my grades up that I find myself relying on my time management skills a lot.
Q. My Dream Job, other than the NBA/WNBA, is:
A- I’m not sure that I have a dream job at this time. All I know is that I want a stable job that will provide for my family. Maybe in our current economic climate, that is a dream job.
Q. The person, other than my parents, who has had the most influence on me is, and why:
A- One of my coaches, Phil Bartlett, has been a friend of mine for a long time. He helped me get to where I am today. He has always pushed me to be better not only in basketball, but in all aspects of my life.
Q. The best thing about being a Vermont Catamount is:
A- The very best thing for me are the teammates that I have here. They are very supportive and have helped me in so many ways both in and out of the gym. They have provided incredible support for me.
Q. Most memorable moment as an athlete:
A- During my sophomore of high school, I made a 3 point shot off an assist from my best friend that allowed us to make it to the championship game. It was our last year playing basketball together and I was glad that he was able to play for the championship his senior year.
Q. What I did this week as a student (classes, tests, projects, study hall):
A- Monday, Wednesday and Friday I have 3 classes ? Calculus, Statistics and a Nutrition class. Tuesday and Thursday I have 2 classes ? Economics and Life Skills class. I have several hours each week that I spend in study hall with my teammates. My first round of tests and quizzes are coming up in all of my classes so I have been preparing for that.
Q. What I did this week as an athlete (practice, games):
A- We had three games last week so there was a lot of preparation for that. We watched game films for each of our games. We then had practice where we would run our plays and set our defensive match-ups for all of the games. In addition, we continue to go to strength and conditioning so we make sure we don’t lose that fitness throughout the season. We are getting to that point in the season that we visit the training room almost everyday to get our medical treatments so that our injuries heal faster.
Q. Based upon my experiences growing up, my advice for young kids about school and athletics is:
A- I would tell kids to really enjoy the moment...because it all goes by so very fast. Also, don’t take school for granted...learn as much as you can because it will help open doors for you when basketball is done.
Q. Why I am looking forward to the America East Basketball Championship:
A- The drive to the championship this year has been a very challenging but extremely rewarding experience. So far, it has been a memory that I will not forget for the rest of my life. I think the AE championship is a way to let everyone know how good we really are. I’m very excited about that.
