CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Five America East soccer players from four different schools have been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Soccer Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday, October 29.
Boston University's Emily Pallotta was a first-team selection on the women's side and Binghamton University's Jen McEachron earned third-team honors. For the men, University of Hartford's Nenad Cudic and University of New Hampshire's Joe Corsello garnered first-team accolades, while Binghamton's Chris Terry was a second-team choice.
Pallotta, the America East Midfielder of the Year, is a repeat first-team All-District 1 selection. A senior with a 3.75 grade-point average in business administration and management, Pallotta is a three-time member of the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll and was an All-Academic choice in 2008. She has led Boston U. to back-to-back league titles and has them positioned for another as the No. 1 seed in the conference championship.
McEachron, a senior goalkeeper for the Bearcats, has a 3.64 GPA in biology/pre-med. A member of the America East's Commissioner's honor roll, McEachron ranks among league leaders in both goals-against average (0.75) and save percentage (.850).
Cudic, a senior goalkeeper for Hartford, has a 3.76 GPA in economics and finance. An America East Commissioner's Honor Roll member, Cudic as the Hawks in second place in the conference standings and in position for the No. 2 seed in the upcoming league tournament. He is tied for fourth among league leaders with a 1.04 GAA and has four shutouts.
Corsello, a junior back for first-place UNH, has a 3.76 GPA in enviornmental engineering. Named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll last year, Corsello anchors a back line that allowed just four goals in seven conference games. As a result the Wildcats won their first-ever outright regular-season title and recorded the first unnbeaten season in conference play since Hofstra went 9-0-0 in 1997.
Terry, a senior defensive midfielder, has a 3.90 GPA in biology. A Commissioner's Honor Roll recipient, Terry has started all 16 games for the Bearcats, who are tied for second among America East squads with 17 goals allowed and have four shutouts.
To be nominated for the distinction, a student athlete must excel on the field as a starter or important reserve, and in the classroom by maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.30. Student Athletes who receive first team recognition will be named to the national ballot.
