Albany Leads Golf Championship After Day One - AmericaEast.com

SIMSBURY, Conn.-- University at Albany is atop the team standings after day one at the 2008 America East Golf Championship at Simsbury Farms Golf Course. The Great Danes have not won the conference crown since 2004, the first year America East sponsored women's golf. Click on one of the PDF links below to download full first round results.

Albany finished the afternoon with a score of 324 on the 5,826 yard, par-72 course. University of Hartford stands at second-place just three-shots more at 327, while Boston University rounded out the three-team championship with a score of 343.

A pair of Great Danes, Corrin Conroy and Maggie Taylert, each carded scores of 80 along with Hartford's Sadie Heald to claim the lowest individual scores on the day. Albany's Amanda McPhee carding an 81 and Hartford's Megan Claxton, Juliana Carrillo and Boston University's Allison Hamilton with 82s also finished with the top-five scorecards after the first day.

The second round will get under way Sunday morning at 8 a.m. The team and individual champions will be named immediately following competition.
