CAMBRIDGE, Mass. ? Boston University’s Francine Whu and Stony Brook’s Artem Baradach were named America East Men’s and Women’s Tennis Players of the Year, respectively, to highlight the conference’s annual award winners. Baradach also took home Rookie of the Year honors on the men’s side, while Binghamton’s Anna Edelman received the honor for the women. The Albany women’s coaching staff and the Binghamton men’s staff were tabbed Coaching Staffs of the Year to round out the major award winners. All honorees were determined in a vote by the league’s head coaches.
Whu led the Terriers to their 15th straight America East title and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament. Baradach compiled a 20-5 singles record and a 13-7 mark in doubles play.
Edelman, a second-team all-conference selection in single and a first-team choice in doubles. racked up 53 wins in her first collegiate season. She went 24-7 in singles action and 29-4 in doubles play.
Albany, which is coached by Elissa Kinard, set a program-record with 18 wins this season to earn women’s Coaching Staff of the Year honors. Binghamton, which is coached by Adam Cohen, went 13-10 this season and captured its fourth league title in six years to earn men’s Coaching Staff of the Year accolades.
