Boston University Leads 2007-08 Commissioner's Cup Standings Through Winter Campaign - AmericaEast.com CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - After winning one championship and finishing second in three other winter sports, Boston University has taken over first place in the 2007-08 America East Stuart P. Haskell, Jr. Commissioner’s Cup standings through the winter season. The Commissioner’s Cup annually recognizes the strongest athletic program in America East as determined by a scoring system which rewards a school for success both during the regular season and championship competition in the conference’s 21 sports. Full StandingsBoston University now has 261 points on the season, ahead of University of New Hampshire, which led following the fall campaign and has 220 points. Binghamton University moved up one spot to third place and has 192 points, while University at Albany and UMBC are just behind with 189 points. University of Vermont remains in sixth place with 180 points, followed by University of Hartford (166), Stony Brook University (155) and University of Maine (112).Boston U. took over first place by winning the women’s indoor track and field championships and finishing as the runner-up in women’s basketball, as well as men’s and women’s swimming and diving. New Hampshire placed second in women’s indoor track and field and third on the men’s side to put a stronghold on second place.Binghamton moved into third place after a second-place showing in men’s indoor track and field.Albany ascended one spot to fourth after winning its third straight men’s indoor track and field title, while UMBC climbed four spots after winning regular-season and postseason championships in men’s basketball. The Retrievers also swept the men’s and women’s swimming and diving titles.Hartford made a jump in the standings, moving up one spot to seventh after claiming regular-season and tournament titles in women’s basketball and finishing second in the men’s basketball regular-season standings and championship tournament.The Stuart P.
