America East In The Polls - AmericaEast.com CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- In the first week of the regional cross country polls, several America East squads clock into the top 15, while both of the conference's ranked field hockey teams moved up in the national coaches' poll. Two cross country teams place in the Northeast's top ten on the women's side this week. New Hampshire ranks eighth and Boston University edges in at the ten spot. Stony Brook rounds out the conference's representation in the regional poll at 11th. The Terriers and Wildcats also made the cut on the men's side, ranking 12th and 13th, respectively.America East field hockey continues to make a mark on the national scene in this week's poll. Boston University (7-2) moved up to #14 in the NFHCA/STX poll after being ranked 19th last week, largely due to its 3-0 dominating win over previously 15th-ranked Virginia on the Cavaliers' home turf. UVa dropped to 19. The Great Danes (7-3) took a step up from 18 to 17 this week. Albany received 206 votes after wins over Colgate and Holy Cross last week. Vermont (7-4) garnered 10 votes from the coaches.In women's soccer, Stony Brook's (3-2-2) scoreless tie against Columbia last week was good enough for a 10th-place ranking in the Northeast NSCAA poll. Columbia is ranked fifth in the Northeast. The Seawolves are placed 13th in the Soccer Buzz equivalent. Boston University (3-4-1) stays put at 10th in the magazine's regional poll, while New Hampshire (4-3-1) slips from 9th to 11th.The men's soccer coaches ranked Binghamton (6-2-0) the eighth-best in the Northeast. The Bearcats defeated Hartwick, 2-1, over the weekend.
