ALPHARETTA, GA - The University of Hartford men's golf team shot its best round of the NCAA East Regional on Saturday and finished tied for 24th overall at the Lakeside Course at The Golf Club of Georgia.
The Hawks recorded a team score of 304 in the final round and moved up two spots on the leaderboard, tying Rhode Island with a three-round total of 940. Hartford also finished higher than both Boston College (947) and Longwood (951).
Georgia (855) held on to its second round lead to post the lowest score in the 27-team field. The Bulldogs qualified for the upcoming NCAA Championship and will be joined by the top-10 finishers, which included Florida, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Duke, Charlotte, North Carolina, Georgia State and Coastal Carolina.
Freshman Maki Kobayashi carded Hartford's lowest round of the tournament on Saturday with a three-under par 69. He played the par-5 holes in three under and had four birdies and just one bogey for the round. Kobayashi finished tied for 66th overall at 226.
Classmates Nick MacDonald and Zack Ungvarsky each shot rounds of 79 and tied for 121st overall at 237. Junior A.J. Oleksak played his best round of the tournament and posted a 77 and tied for 128th overall at 241. Sophomore Kyle Parsons rounded out the scoring with a 90 and finished 140th at 255.
