Boston U, Week Six: Marques Johnson - AmericaEast.com

Q:: Three things I can't live without...
A:: Television. Internet. Friends.

Q:: Why I chose Boston University...
A:: I decided to come to Boston University because I really like the city.  Also, I wanted to get away from home. I researched the school and found out it was a really good school academically, but above all I liked the basketball program and I felt that I could fit in nicely with the team.

Q:: Favorite class and why...
A::  Social science is my favorite class. I enjoy social science because we are constantly discussing different historical events that occurred throughout the world, and I have always been interested in history.

Q:: One thing I have learned at Boston U. that I will carry with me for the rest of my life is...
A:: My career at BU is not over yet, so I am sure that I will learn a lot more. There are a few things that I have learned already, but the most important thing I learned is how to be a man.  Certain situations might occur and you have to learn how to take care of the problems that come with everyday life.  Hopefully when I graduate I'll be prepared for the real world.

Q:: Other than playing in the NBA, my dream job is...
A::  My dream job other than playing in the NBA is to own a basketball facility.  The facility would allow youth to come off the streets and participate on an athletic team. Hopefully this will get kids to make it off the streets and get in to college so they can have a better life.

Q:: Other than my parents, the person who has had the most influence on me is and why...
A:: Growing up I always admired my brother, considering I was younger, I looked up to him.  In my eye he always seemed like the coolest person in the world and a big part of the way I live my life come from things I witnessed him doing.  I sort of copied his ways but made them my own.

Q:: The best thing about being a Boston U. Terrier is...
A:: There are so many benefits of being a Terrier.  There are so many students here that you can meet someone completely new every day. Also, you can always learn something new.  One thing I like is the city itself, it’s a great college city so you can always find a place to have fun.  Most of all I love the stools in the locker room where else besides BU could a person have such nice stools.

Q:: Most memorable moment as an athlete...
A:: The most memorable moment I have experienced was winning the 2004 state championships my junior year of high school. Also, I won the state tournament MVP award so that was very memorable to me.

Q:: What I did this week as a student...
A:: I was sick all last week so I had a few make-up tests this week. I have only had class twice this week so far, but after I finish typing this I have to attend two more classes today.  We also have study hall a few hours this week.

Q:: What I did this week as an athlete...
A:: During this past week we had two games, one I didn’t play in because I was still sick, but I did participate in Sunday’s game.  We also had two days of practice this week and we lifted to stay in shape.

Q:: Based upon my experiences growing up, my advice for young kids about school and athletics is...
A:: I would tell young kids to enjoy playing whatever sport it is they play, but use the skills that god blessed you with to try and better yourself by getting an education. It might require hard work but it will eventually pay off.

Q:: Why I am looking forward to the America East Men’s Basketball Championship at Agganis Arena in Boston on March 2-4...
A:: I'm looking forward to the tournament because it’s our chance to get into the NCAA tournament. Also, it will be nice to play a few home games in front of all our family and friends here at BU.
