America East In The Polls - AmericaEast.com CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-- Both the men's and women's soccer teams at Boston University are moving up in the regional rankings after solid weeks on the pitch. The Stony Brook women are also getting a few more votes this week.The Stony Brook women's soccer team (7-2-4) extended its unbeaten streak to nine games after consecutive 1-0 conference wins over New Hampshire and Albany last week. The Seawolves entered the NSCAA/adidas Northeast poll at 10th and climbed the Soccer Buzz regional poll from 11th to 8th according to the polls released Tuesday. Boston University (7-5-2), with wins against Maine and UMBC, also entered the coaches' regional poll in the number nine spot. The Terriers also inched up one spot in the Soccerbuzz poll to #12. The New Hampshire Wildcats (8-5-1) are receiving votes in the NSCAA Northeast region. These three teams represent teams 1-2-3 in the America East standings as of Tuesday, October 16.Hartford's (6-3-2) overtime upset of Binghamton (9-3-0) knocked the Bearcats down in the Northeast coaches' poll, falling from third to sixth. Two home wins pushed Boston University (7-5-0) onto voting ballots. The Terriers hosted Maine and Penn State last week, winning by scores of 2-0 and 2-1, respectively.America East field hockey teams remained relatively stable in the NFHCA/STX Division I poll released Tuesday. Boston university (12-4) fell just one spot to 14, while Albany (12-3) continues to yo-yo between 16 and 17, landing in the higher ranking this week. Vermont, who captured a crucial 3-0 victory over New Hampshire on Friday, is receiving four votes.With just under two weeks remaining until the America East Cross Country Championship hosted by Stony Brook on October 27, the lady Seawolves find themselves in a favorable position, ranked fourth in the Northeast region. New Hampshire, led this past week by senior Cathy Parker's performance at the Penn State Invitational, follows in ninth, and Boston University is ranked 11th. The men from New Hampshire and Boston University are ranked 11th and 14th, respectively, in their Northeast poll.
