Maine Week Three: Jon Sheets - AmericaEast.com

Q:: Three things I can't live without...
A:: Music. TV. Pizza.

Q:: Why I chose University of Maine...
A:: I thought there was great team chemistry and it gave me a chance to see and experience the east coast.

Q:: Favorite class and why...
A:: Small group communication.  It was a class where I had to work with others in a small group and put together different presentations to the class. It helped me to work with others to accomplish a goal. This will help me after college when I have to work with others.

Q:: One thing I have learned at Maine that I will carry with me for the rest of my life is...
A:: In all aspects of life from basketball to school you must work hard in everything you do through hard times and good times.

Q:: Other than playing in the NBA, my dream job is...
A::  To be a high profile real estate agent somewhere in California.

Q:: Other than my parents, the person who has had the most influence on me is and why...
A:: My grandmother. She passed away when I was younger but before she did she told me that I would do great things.  That will stick with me my whole life.

Q:: The best thing about being a Maine Black Bear is...
A:: Working hard on the court with my teammates and then hanging out with all of them off the court.

Q:: Most memorable moment as an athlete...
A:: Getting to play close to my home town against a top-ranked team of the University of Nevada, Reno. Also signing to play division one basketball at the University of Maine.

Q:: What I did this week as a student...
A:: I had a few reading assignments and a take home quiz in my women and communication class.

Q:: What I did this week as an athlete...
A:: Played at Stony Brook and Hartford, and we won both games.  It was good to get those wins but it was a long trip; we left Orono on Wednesday and didn’t get back to campus until Sunday.  But it’s much easier to travel with two wins under your belt.

Q:: Based upon my experiences growing up, my advice for young kids about school and athletics is...
A:: You must work hard in the classroom and that will give you the opportunity to play. And when you get that chance, you have to work hard everyday in practice, lifting and playing in the games.

Q:: Why I am looking forward to the America East Men’s Basketball Championship at Agganis Arena in Boston on March 2-4...
A::It will be a great atmosphere and a good opportunity to compete with all the great teams in our conference.
