The 2002 America East Field Hockey Championship will be decided Sunday, November 10. The semifinals are set for Friday, November 8. The four-team tournament will be held at home site of the highest seeded team with an artificial turf field.

The winner of the America East Championship receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Field Hockey Championship. Last season, Northeastern won its seventh America East title in the 12 seasons the conference has sponsored a championship.

America East has been well represented in recent NCAA Field Hockey Championships. The conference has placed multiple teams into the tournament in two of the last four years and three of the last six. Northeastern advanced to the 1996 NCAA semifinals before falling 2-1 to North Carolina.
