America East Men's Basketball Pulls High Academic Rank - AmericaEast.com


The America East Conference men’s basketball programs finished with an average APR of 951.4 in the NCAA’s recently released Academic Progress Rate. The APR is being used by the NCAA to measure the academic achievement of NCAA teams in all sports. The America East APR was third to only the Ivy League (991.3) and the Patriot League (956.7).

“The institutions of the America East Conference have always had a tremendous commitment to the academic pursuits of their Student-Athletes” commented America East Commissioner Patrick Nero “these latest rankings confirm for us that our men’s basketball programs are taking the necessary steps to assure that their student-athletes are performing well in the classroom.”

All nine America East institutions received passing rates in all sports and no America East institutions received penalties in accordance with these NCAA guidelines.

“The APR was developed to assist institutions and the NCAA in monitoring the academic pursuits all student-athletes, I am pleased by the results of our men’s basketball programs as well as all of our teams” said Walter Harrison, President of the University of Hartford and Chairman of the NCAA APR Committee. Harrison also serves as Chairman of the America East Board of Directors.
