Tennis All-Championship Team Announced - AmericaEast.com

The America East Tennis All-Championship Teams have been selected. The all-championship squads are made up of players selected by the league’s coaches for outstanding play at the conference tournament.

The women’s singles team is comprised of Boston U.’s Erin Katims (No. 1 Singles), Gina Sabatino (No. 2 Singles), Binghamton’s Jelena Koprivica (No. 3 Singles), Boston U.’s Yana Sadovskaya (No. 4 Singles), Cori Lefkowith (No. 5 Singles) and Danielle Abraham (No. 6 Singles). The three doubles teams that earned all-championship honors are Boston U.’s Sabatino and Monica Shepherd (No. 1 Doubles), Katims/Laura Ahmes (No. 2 doubles) and Cori Lefkowith/Abraham.

Katims went 2-0 at the No. 1 spot at the championship and also earned two doubles victories paired with Ahmes. Sabatino did not finish a singles match, however she led her opponent in both the semifinal and final matches. In doubles play, Sabatino paired with Shepherd to earn one win and led their unfinished match. Koprivica earned one singles win and played in two unfinished matches. Sadovskaya earned one singles win and led her opponent in the championship match. Lefkowith earned two singles victories for the Terriers and a win paired with Abraham in doubles. Abraham also earned a win in singles play.

The selections for the men include Binghamton’s Richemn Mourad (No. 1 Singles), Stony Brook’s Mike Crooks (No. 2 Singles), Binghamton’s Brian O’Connor (No. 3 Singles), Stony Brook’s Youssef Fassi-Fehri (no. 4 Singles), Binghamton’s Edwin Gerard (No. 5 Singles) and Stony Brook’s Dave Kortum (No. 6 Singles). The pair selected from doubles play are Stony Brook’s Tal Meir and Crooks (No. 1 doubles), Binghamton’s Alex Dobrin and O’Connor (No. 2 Doubles) and Stony Brook’s Kortum and Fassi-Fehri (Stony Brook).

Mourad earned two victories at No. 1 singles, while Crooks earned a pair of wins at the No. 2 spot. O’Connor, Fassi-Fehri and Gerard each earned one victory in the final match. Kortum recorded two wins for the Seawolves in both singles and doubles play. Meir and Crooks took the No. 1 doubles win in the championship game, while Dobrin and O’Conner earned their one victory at the No. 2 spot. Kortum and Fassi-Fehri went undefeated at the No. 3 spot.
