America East Men's Tennis Champion Binghamton and Women's Tennis Champion Boston University each fell 4-0 in the first round of the NCAA Tennis Championships Friday (May 13). The Bearcats were defeated at No. 10 LSU while the Terriers lost to No. 16 Tennessee at Cambridge, Mass.

LSU won the doubles point as Matt Growcott and Ken Skupski defeated Dan Hanegby and Faisal Mohamed, 8-3 at No. 1 doubles and Colt Gaston and Danny Bryan downed Alex Dorbin and Brian O'Connor, 8-4 at No. 2 doubles. Richemn Mourad and Edwin Gerard of the Bearcats led Paul White and Kevin Dessauer, 5-4 at No. 3 doubles when the match was stopped.

The Tigers then won at No. 3 singles as Peter Richman defeated Dobrin, 6-0, 6-3; at No. 4 singles as Bryan defeated Mohamed, 6-3, 6-0; and at No. 5 singles as Dessauer downed Gerard, 6-1, 6-0.

Hanegby was at 6-6 and down a set (3-6) in his match at No. 1 singles with Growcott; Mourad trailed Skupski (4-6, 3-4) at No. 2 singles and O'Connor won the first set 6-2 and trailed in the second 4-5 to White at No. 6 singles when the match was decided.

The Lady Vols won the doubles point as Sabita Majaraj and Ashley Robards defeated Laura Ahmes and Cheri Lapane, 8-5 at No. 1 doubles and Daron Moore and Bryce Marable downed Katie Draganova and Aimee Charest, 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.

Majaraj defeated Ahmes, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles; Victoria Jones was a 6-2, 6-3 winner over Erin Katims at No. 3 singles; and Ghizela Schutte downed Charest, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.

Gina Sabatino trailed Blakeley Griffth 3-6, 2-3 at No. 2 singles; Draganova trailed Robards, 3-6, 3-5 at No. 4 singles; and Monica Shepard was down 3-6, 3-5 to Marable at No. 6 singles when the match was decided.
