Led by Kenneth J. Pope medalist Matt Burroughs' championship-low two-day score of 149, the Hartford men rode their 13-stroke day-one advantage to the title. Despite being outscored by Binghamton University on day two, 306 to 311, the Hawks had four of the top-six individual scores for the championship. Burroughs (74-75-149), David Markle (77-77-154), Destin Wetherup (78-79-157) and Mark Jemilo (77-81-158) led Hartford to the Gordon McCullough trophy signifying the America East Men's Golf Champion.

The Bearcats put forth a valliant effort on day two as they bested their team score by 13 strokes and secured second. Jeff Wolniewicz (74-78-152) led Binghamton, while Joe Kunz (81-74-155), Keith Hendrickson (80-78-158) and Kevin Crawford (84-76-160) also shot in the top-10 for the championship. Kunz's second-round 74 was the day's best score and tied the stellar first rounds put up by Burroughs and Wolniewicz.

On the women's side, Boston University outshot Albany, 373-374, on day two, but the 21-stroke lead the Great Danes held from day one was too much for the Terriers to overcome. Diane Onofry (84-88-172) was the women's medalist as she paced Albany teammates Jill Friedman (86-90-176), Anne Lyons (88-96-184) and Lauren Bruce (91-102-193).

Boston University's Haley Goucher (91-91-182), Leah Johnson (94-89-183), Kara Vaneck (93-96-189) and Brenn Gibson (92-98-190) were the scorers for the Terriers. Hartford was consistent at the top of its lineup as Nicole Saad (92-95-187), JoAnna Krupa (98-91-189) and Kerry Hassell (99-93-192) all posted top-10 scores for the Hawks.

The America East Championship is stroke play with the top four of a team’s five golfers counting toward the score in each round.
