Hartford Wins Second-Straight Golf Championship - AmericaEast.com

BOYLSTON, Mass.-- University of Hartford placed four of the top five golfers en route to its second-straight America East Golf Championship at Cyprian Keyes Golf Club. It was the Hawks' ninth title in the 14 years the conference has sponsored a championship. The Hawks had a two-day team total of 604, 16 strokes better than Binghamton University (620), which finished second. University of Vermont was third at 648 followed by Boston University with 670.

Binghamton junior Adam Fuchs shot a 74-75-149 to earn medalist honors but the next four players were all Hawks as Jeff Campbell shot a 73-77-150, Miroslav Holub a 75-76-151, Chris Holmes a 74-78-152 and first-round leader Greg Folsom a 71-82-153. Dean Carrigan, who shot a 79 for the Hawks yesterday, factored into the scoring today with an 80. The America East Golf Championship is stroke play with the top four of a team's five golfers counting toward the score in each round.

Fuchs tied for the low round of the day with teammates Adam Singer and Jonathan Bump as the Bearcats shot a 309 today, two strokes better than Hartford which posted an 18-stoke lead (293 to 311) after Round 1. Singer finished sixth in the tournament with a 79-75-154 while Bump was seventh with an 80-75-155.

Fuchs, Campbell, Holub, Holmes and Folsom were chosen to the all-conference first team.

Jim Pinto of Hartford was named Coach of the Year.
