Top-seeded University of Hartford defeated Stony Brook, 4-1, to earn its first America East Men's Tennis Championship since 1995 at Cullman Courts. The Hawks receive the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Men's Tennis Championship and await Thursday's selections and pairings.

The championship match was moved indoors due to the weather and the format was changed with singles matches played first.

Hartford's Pedja Zdravkovic was named the championship's Most Outstanding Performer for the second-straight year. Zdravkovic defeated Jans Pilgram-Larsen, 6-2, 7-6 (13-11) at number one singles. Stony Brook evened the match at number two singles when Egil Anonsen defeated Pat Flint, 6-1, 6-4. Clint Broadie of Hartford was a 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 winner over Gareth Williams at number three singles. Jeff Hurlbert, of Hartford, downed Philippe Amireault, 6-1, 6-4 at number four singles and Even Sideman decided the match with a 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 win over James Carpenter at number six singles. Hartford's Cristoffer Hartmann was leading 6-3, 4-6, 4-0 over David Hewitt at number five singles when the match was called with the team match decided.

Zdrakovic was joined on the all-conference team by teammates Hartmann, Hurlbert, Broadie and Sideman, as well as Brad Davidoff and Akshay Rao of Binghamton, Geoff Wagner of Boston University, David Levin of Vermont and Egil Anonsen of Stony Brook. Mark Dolan was named Coach of the Year.

The America East Tennis Championship utilizes a format of three doubles matches and six singles matches. Each singles match, which use a best two-of-three sets format, is worth one point. Doubles matches are played using eight-game pro sets with a 12-point tie-break at eight games all. The team winning two or more of the doubles matches receives one point in the team scoring. A minimum of four points is required to win the team match.
