Spalding Player of the Week: Binghamton senior forward Leah Truncale (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free) was named Spalding Player of the Week. Against Colgate on Dec. 21, Truncale scored a career-high 25 points and grabbed a career-high 19 rebounds while also collecting five steals and two blocks. Truncale’s 25 points is the highest total recorded by a Binghamton player this season, as is her 19 rebounds … She is averaging career highs in points per game (16.2), rebounds (11.0) and blocks (3.0). Truncale needs nine points to move into third place all-time. She currently has 1,260 points.

Spalding Rookie of the Week: Freshman guard Missy Traversi of Maine (Attleboro, Mass./Bishop Feehan) was named America East Rookie of the Week after leading the Black Bears with 20 points in their 50-39 win over Rhode Island. She scored two three-pointers in a game-opening 17-0 run. When URI pulled within 31-29 in the second half, she completed a conventional three-point play on a fast-break pullup jumper to make the score 36-29. The Rams were never closer than six points the rest of the way. Traversi scored 11 points in the first half and nine in the second. She leads the team with 11.9 ppg and eight games in double-figure scoring. Her 28 assists and 18 three-pointers are also tops among the Black Bears.
