#AEMSOC Week 2: Five Teams Earn Wins

BOSTON – It was another strong week for the conference as five different programs secured victories, while Vermont and Bryant remain unbeaten this season.
 
The Catamounts went 2-0 last week to improve to 4-0-1 overall on the season while Bryant is 3-0-2. UAlbany is 2-1 with two straight victories, while New Hampshire and UMBC are both 2-1-1. Overall 6 of 8 conference programs own a .500 record or better.
 
Need to Know:
  • Vermont stretched its regular season unbeaten streak to 19 matches by shutting out Holy Cross and Sacred Heart last week by matching 2-0 scores.
  • Bryant blew out Western Michigan 5-1 and then played Colgate to a 1-1 draw to conclude the week.
  • UAlbany went on the road at Dartmouth and earned a 1-0 victory.
  • NJIT went 2-1 over the past week, shutting out JMU 2-0 and also beating Loyola 1-0.
  • Binghamton went unbeaten last week, drawing 0-0 with Colgate and then edging Central Connecticut State with a late goal to earn the 1-0 victory for Tommy Moon’s first at the helm.
  • This week UAlbany hosts Siena and then welcomes Princeton to conclude the week. Vermont put its unbeaten mark on the line against Boston U. while Bryant hosts Providence looking for state supremacy.
 

2026 #AEMSOC Weekly Award Winners – Sept. 8
Offensive Player of the Week
Pieter Bultman, Vermont – Sr., Defender, Lexington, Mass.
  • Scored twice in a pair of 2-0 victories for Vermont.
  • Tallied a goal against Holy Cross and then against Sacred Heart while helping the team post two shutouts.
  • This is Bultman’s first career #AEMSOC Offensive Player of the Week honor.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week
Natan Jemaneh Admassu, Binghamton – Sr., Goalkeeper, Bonga, Ethiopia
  • Earned a pair of shutouts last week, going 1-0-1 with six total saves while facing 26 shots.
  • Totaled four saves in a 0-0 draw with Colgate and then made two saves in a 1-0 victory over CCSU.
  • This is Jemaneh Admassu’s first #AEMSOC Goalkeeper of the Week honor.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Almoznino Saar, Binghamton – Sr., Defender, Jerusalem, Israel
  • Helped Binghamton defense record a pair of shutouts last week.
  • In addition to helping record shutout, Saar scored the lone goal in a 1-0 game against CCSU.
  • This is de Saar’s first career #AEMSOC Defensive Player of the Week honor.
 
Rookie of the Week
Zain Thompson, NJIT – Fr., Forward, Cranberry Twp, Pa.
  • Recorded one goal and one assist in a 2-1 week for the Highlanders.
  • Tallied an assist in NJIT’s 1-0 win over Loyola and then added a goal against Rider.
  • This is Thompson’s first #AEMSOC Rookie of the Week honor.

The America East is one of the best men’s soccer conferences in the country and home to the 024 national champions from Vermont. In 2024, the Catamounts led the nation in RPI and the America East finish fifth as a conference. It marked the league’s second straight top-six finish in RPI. Overall The conference has received multiple bids to the NCAA tournament in five of the past ten seasons. Five different teams have reached the third round of the NCAA tournament since 2014.
