#AEMSOC Week 4: No. 13 Vermont & Bryant Remain Unbeaten

BOSTON – It was another strong week for the conference as five different programs secured victories, while Vermont and Bryant remain unbeaten this season.
 
The Catamounts and Bulldogs are both 4-0-2 to start the year, while New Hampshire is 4-1-1 and unbeaten in its last five contests. Overall six of eight #AEMSOC programs own a record of .500 or better.

Need to Know:
  • Vermont extended its regular season unbeaten streak to 20 matches with a 0-0 draw at Boston University on Tuesday.
  • Bryant trailed Providence 2-1 in the second half, but got goals from Paco Fernandez and Fermin Rodriguez to secure the 3-2 comeback victory.
  • UAlbany took down Siena 2-1 to start the week and then fell 1-0 to No. 16 Princeton on Saturday.
  • New Hampshire won twice last week, blowing out New Haven 6-2 and edging UMass 1-0 on the road.
  • This week UAlbany hosts Siena and then welcomes Princeton to conclude the week. Vermont put its unbeaten mark on the line against Boston U. while Bryant hosts Providence looking for state supremacy.
 

2026 #AEMSOC Weekly Award Winners – Sept. 8
Offensive Player of the Week
Fermin Rodriguez, Bryant – Sr., Forward, Valencia, Spain
  • Recorded a goal and an assist in a 3-2 comeback win over Providence.
  • Fermin assisted on Bryant’s first goal and then scored the game-winner in the 71st minute to lead the Bulldogs over Providence 3-2.
  • This is Rodriguez’s first career #AEMSOC Offensive Player of the Week honor.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week
Niklas Herceg, Vermont – Jr., Goalkeeper, Alsdorf, Germany
  • Earned a five-save shutout at Boston University on Tuesday as the teams played to a 0-0 draw.
  • This is Herceg’s fifth #AEMSOC Goalkeeper of the Week honor.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Reed Cash, New Hampshire – Jr., Defender, Hampton Falls, N.H.
  • Led the team to a 2-0 mark last week, including a 1-0 shutout at UMass.
  • Posted an assist in a 6-2 win over New Haven and then played the full 90 in a shutout at UMass.
  • This is Cash’s career #AEMSOC Defensive Player of the Week honor.
 
Rookie of the Week
Flynn Holdem, UMBC – Fr., Forward, Christchurch, New Zealand
  • Recorded a goal in a loss to No. 22 Old Dominion and two shots on goal.
  • This is Holdem’s second #AEMSOC Rookie of the Week honor.

The America East is one of the best men’s soccer conferences in the country and home to the 2024 national champions from Vermont. In 2024, the Catamounts led the nation in RPI and the America East finish fifth as a conference. It marked the league’s second straight top-six finish in RPI. Overall The conference has received multiple bids to the NCAA tournament in five of the past ten seasons. Five different teams have reached the third round of the NCAA tournament since 2014.
