BOSTON – Six different performers from five programs were recognized for their standout efforts over the past week of competition.
#AETF Weekly Award Winners – April 21
Female Field Athlete of the Week
Alyssa Armitage, Binghamton – Sr., Throws, North Tonawanda, N.Y.
- Won the pole vault at the Bobbi Palma UAlbany Spring Classic with a Binghamton school-record height of 4.07m
- Her height currently ranks No. 34 in the NCAA East Region
- This is Armitage's first #AETF Athlete of the Week honor of the outdoor season
Female Track Athlete of the Week
Ruby Krasnow, Maine – Grad., Distance, Huntsville, Ala.
- Crossed the line first in the 5,000m at the Sean Collier Invitational, running 15:59.16
- Her Maine school record ranks 39th in the East Region
- This is Krasnow's first #AETF Athlete of the Week honor of the outdoor season
Female Rookie of the Week
Ella Goulas, Bryant – Fr., Jumps
- Won the long jump and triple jump, posting marks of 5.91m and 11.88m, respectively, at the George Davis Invitational
- This is Goulas' first #AETF Athlete of the Week honor of the outdoor season
Male Field Athlete of the Week
Iosif Papa, UMBC – Sr., Throws, Nicosia, Cyprus
- Placed third overall and second among collegians at the University of Virginia Challenge in the discus
- His best throw of the day, 58.98m, is less than a meter off his lifetime best
- This is Papa's second #AETF Athlete of the Week honor of the outdoor season
Male Track Athlete of the Week
Tooni Ogunyeye, UAlbany – So., Sprints, Brampton, Ontario, Canada
- Ran a lifetime-best 10.32 in the 100m at the Bobbi Palma UAlbany Spring Classic
- His time, which ranks fourth in UAlbany program history, broke the meet record
- This is Ogunyeye's first #AETF Athlete of the Week honor of the outdoor season
Male Rookie of the Week
Samir Gardner, UAlbany – Fr., Jumps, Albany, N.Y.
- Won the long jump at the Bobbi Palma UAlbany Spring Classic
- His mark of 7.38m, a new personal best, ranks eighth in Great Dane program history
- This is Gardner's first #AETF Athlete of the Week honor of the outdoor season
