Women’s #AEHoops Week 10: Binghamton & Bryant Remain Perfect

BOSTON –  Binghamton and Bryant each earned a pair of impressive conference victories to remain tied atop the #AEHoops standings as the last two unbeaten teams. The Bearcats are 3-0, while the Bulldogs are 4-0 in league action.

The Week That Was:
  • On Thursday, Binghamton outscored Vermont by nine points in the four quarter to come back and earn a 71-67 victory over the defending champions. They went on the road Saturday and flew past UMass Lowell 80-52.
  • Bryant put up 80 points on UMass Lowell in Thursday’s victory and then outlasted a tough UAlbany team at home 62-55 for the program’s best-ever start in conference play.
  • Maine also went 2-0 last weekend to improve to 3-1 in league play, taking down UMBC 58-43 and then NJIT 86-67 at home.
  • NJIT and UMBC both went 1-1 last week, as the Highlanders earned a win over UNH on Thursday and then the Retrievers beat the Wildcats on Saturday.
                                                                                                            
Looking Ahead:
  • Thursday’s action features three early starts. Binghamton hosts UAlbany at 11 am, while NJIT welcomes UMass Lowell at 11 a.m. and Bryant is at UMBC with a 12 p.m. tip-off. Vermont plays at Maine at 6 p.m.
  • On Saturday, Vermont hosts UAlbany at 6 p.m. in the nightcap, while Maine played at New Hampshire, UMBC hosts Binghamton and Bryant welcomes NJIT.

Player of the Week
Adrianna Smith, Maine – Sr., Forward, Reston, Va.
  • Averaged 24.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game.
  • Finished with 19 points, 11 rebounds and six assists in a win over UMBC.
  • Went off for 30 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists and three blocks in a victory against NJIT.
  • This is Smith’s third #AEHoops Player of the Week honor this season.
 
Rookie of the Week
Heidi Williams – Fr., Guard, Prince George's County, Md.
  • Averaged 15.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game in a 1-1 week.
  • Had 15 points, six rebounds and one steal in a win over UNH.
  • Posted 16 points, two rebounds and four steals in a loss to Maine.
  • This is Williams’ third #AEHoops Rookie of the Week honor.
