#AEWSOC Week 4: America East Teams Post Stellar Week

BOSTON –  It was a strong week for America East’s women’s soccer programs as eight of nine programs earned a win or a tie and seven posted unbeaten weeks. #AEWSOC clubs combined to go 7-2-4 last week, good for a .692 win percentage.

Need to Know
  • NJIT continued its impressive start to the season by going a perfect 2-0 last week. The Highlanders knocked off  Wagner, 1-0 on Thursday and then beat Big East foe Seton Hall, 3-1, on Sunday to extend their unbeaten streak to four games.
  • With the wins, NJIT has already matched its win total from 2024 (4).
  • Binghamton extended its unbeaten streak to four game with a win and a tie last week. The Bearcats deadlocked ACC-foe Syracuse, 0-0, on Thursday and beat Colgate, 3-2, on Sunday.
  • UAlbany earned its first victory of the year on Sunday by beating Le Moyne, 1-0.
  • Vermont beat Charleston Southern, 2-1, on Friday behind goals from Sydney Remington and Aubrey Bough.
  • Fourteenmore non-league games take place this week.
  • Conference play starts on September 20. All nine teams will play eight league games, facing every other conference opponent once. The top six teams in the standings at the end of the regular season will qualify for the 2025 America East Women’s Soccer Championship.
  • The #AEWSOC preseason poll and All-Conference teams were announced on July 29. Binghamton and New Hampshire were tabbed the co-favorites - link.
 
Weekly Award Winners – Sept. 8

Offensive Player of the Week
Briana Andreoli, NJIT – Sr., Forward, Hawthorne, N.J.
  •  Tallied a league-best seven points on three goals and an assist in a 2-0 week.
  • Recorded a brace for the second time of her career in Thursday’s win over Wagner.
  • Followed up with a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win over in-state-foe Seton Hall on Sunday.
  • This is Andreoli’s second #AEWSOC Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season and third of her career.
 
Defensive Player of the Week

Kalli Williams, UMBC – Gr., Goalkeeper, Port Republic, Md.
  • Stopped 17 of the 18 shots she encountered in 135 minutes of action last week.
  • Made eight saves in a 1-1 tie vs. Towson on Thursday.
  • Kept the Retrivers close and led them to a 1-1 tie vs. American on Sunday by making nine first-half saves and not allowing a goal.
  • This is Williams first #AEWSOC Defensive Player of the Week honor of her career.
 
Rookie of the Week

Amber Clarke, New Hampshire – Fr., Forward, Cato, N.Y.
  • Recorded her first career points by tallying a goal & an assist in UNH’s win over Merrimack.
  • She assisted on UNH's third goal of the game for her first collegiate point and then scored the game winner for her first collegiate goal.
  • This is Clarke’s first career #AEWSOC Rookie of the Week honor.
