#AEXC Week 1: The 2025 Season Opens Up with Multiple Wins

BOSTON -  Eight of nine #AEXC programs opened their 2025 season this past weekend, with a number of impressive performances.

Maine men’s cross-country team opened the season with a perfect score victory over Army at Saxl Park on Friday morning. UMBC men's cross-country team won a second consecutive championship, as the Dawgs finished with a total of 15 points, having seven of the top eight finishers. On the women’s side, UAlbany had a team finish of 4th place at the Marist Season Opener while UMBC finished as runners-up at the Mount St. Mary’s 5k Dual Meet.

Prior to the season, UMass Lowell was picked seventh in the USTFCCCA Northeast Region poll, while Maine was selected 14th in the women's poll. This coming weekend only Bryant is in action as they host the Shawn Nassaney Invitational. 


#AEXC Weekly Award Winners – Sept. 2
Female Performer of the Week 
Megan Randall, Maine – Redshirt So., Bangor, Maine
  • Took the individual title in the 5,000-meter race, winning the event by over 18-seconds with a time of 17:59.56.
  • Earned third career Performer of the Week honor.

Female Rookie of the Week 
Alice Rappazzo, Binghamton – Fr., Westwood, N.J.
  • Finished as the runner up in the women's race, highlighting Binghamton's performance at the season-opening Colgate Invitational at the Harry Lang Class of '48 Fitness Trails on Saturday. 
  • Rappazzo covered the women's 5,000-meter course in a time of 18:12.
 
Male Performer of the Week 
Daniel Danilovitz, UMBC – So., Moosic, Pa.
  • Secured his first individual title by winning the Mount St. Mary's 5K Dual meet held on Friday morning.
  • He crossed the finish line with a time of 15:31.59 in the 5k.
  • Earned first career Performer of the Week honor after securing Rookie of the Week three times in 2024.
     
Male Rookie of the Week 
Ethan Keller, Maine – Fr., Scarborough, Maine
  • Placed 12th in his first career meet to help lead Maine to a perfect score victory over Army.
  • Finished the course in 25:59.6.
