#AEXC Week 3: UMBC and UAlbany Collect Weekly Award Honors

BOSTON -  Three #AEXC programs raced this weekend as UMBC competed in the Cantello Invitational, UAlbany had a positive showing at the Jasper Invitational and Binghamton competed at the Iona Meet of Champions.  

The UMBC women's cross country team finished in second place at the 2025 Cantello Invitational, while the men's cross country team claimed its second consecutive championship of the season. The Retrievers placed four runners in the top eight, finishing with a total of 29 points and an average time of 25:31.5 at the USNA Cross Country Course. UAlbany had success at the Jasper Invitational as rookies Owen Stachlik and Arianna Verardi led their respective teams in the seeded races on Saturday morning. Binghamton competed in the Iona Meet of Champions. The Bearcat men were fifth out of 10 squads while the women placed fifth out of nine scoring teams.

NJIT will run at the Main Line Invitational Friday morning. Five more teams compete Saturday, with UMass Lowell, Bryant, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont all in action.

#AEXC Weekly Award Winners – Sept. 15
Female Performer of the Week 
Lexi Tepper, UMBC – Jr., Cherry Hill, N.J.
  • Took second place in the 2025 Cantello Invitational on Saturday morning.
  • Completed the 6k course in 22:47.6 at a 6:06.8 pace.
  • Earned second career Performer of the Week honor.

Female Rookie of the Week 
Arianna Verardi, UAlbany– Fr., Averill Park, N.Y.
  • Finished first on the team and 46th overall in the Jasper Invitational with an average pace of 6:04.
  • Verardi covered the women's 6,000-meter course in a time of 22:52.1.
  • This is Verardi’s first #AEXC Rookie of the Week honor.
 
Male Performer of the Week 
Daniel Danilovitz, UMBC – So., Moosic, PA.
  • Secured his second consecutive individual title at the 2025 Cantello Invitational.
  • He completed the 4.9-mile course with a time of 24:52.5 and a 5:05 pace.
  • This is Danilovitz’s second Performer of the Week honor this year.
     
Male Rookie of the Week 
Joey Ensor, UMBC – Fr., Ellicott City, Md.
  • Ensor placed seventh at the 2025 Cantello Invitational with a time of 25:35.1.
  • Finished the 8k course at a 5:13 pace.
  • This is Ensor’s first Rookie of the Week honor.
