BOSTON – Binghamton and New Hampshire tied atop the 2025 #AEWSOC Preseason Poll and both programs had multiple players named Preseason All-Conference as announced by the conference on Tuesday morning.
Last year’s #AEWSOC Runner-Up New Hampshire and 2023 Regular Season Champion Binghamton both finished with 55 points and two first place votes in the Preseason Poll to tie for first. Two-time defending champion Maine had a league-best four first place votes and was close behind in third with 52 points. UMass Lowell captured the final first place vote and had 46 points to place fourth in the poll. Vermont was fifth with 39 points.
Binghamton and Maine each had three players named Preseason All-Conference, as six different programs had at least one selection. 2024 Rookie of the Year Anna Buckwalter is one of three Bearcats along with 2024 first-team all-conference selection Sophia Garofalo and Jahkaya Davis. Maine’s Jordane Pinette earned second-team all-conference honors in 2024, while New Hampshire Maddie Kolb was named Preseason All-Conference after being selected as Defender of the Year in 2024.

Need to Know:
- Binghamton was tied for first with 55 points. The Bearcats won regular season titles in 2022 and 2023 and placed third in the conference in 2024.
- New Hampshire tied for first in this year’s poll has finished in the top three of the standings each of the past three seasons. The Wildcats reached title games in 2022 and 2024, winning the league crown in 2022.
- Maine was picked third with 52 points has won each of the past two #AEWSOC Tournament Titles. The Black Bears have gone a league-best 20-2-8 against conference competition the past three years, but return just one of their six all-conference players from 2024.
- UMass Lowell and Vermont were picked fourth and fifth in the poll for the second straight year.
- Bryant was picked sixth in the Poll after reaching the #AEWSOC Tournament for the first time in 2024.
- New Hampshire’s Maddie Kolb and Binghamton’s Anna Buckwalter are the lone major award winners from 2024 to be named Preseason All-Conference. Kolb was the Defender of the Year while Buckwalter earned Rookie of the Year honors.
- Only four members of the Preseason All-Conference Team have previously earned All-Conference honors: Kolb, Garofalo, Buckwalter and Andreoli.
The 2025 season begins on Thursday, Aug. 14 with four teams in action. UMass Lowell travels to CAA Champion Stony Brook, NJIT plays at Rutgers, UMBC plays at Wagner and Vermont faces Merrimack on the road. UAlbany, Binghamton, Bryant, Maine and New Hampshire open on Sat., Aug. 17.
