BOSTON – Following an impressive soccer career at the University of Vermont, Yaniv Bazini has been named the 2025 America East Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, as announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon.
Bazini is the third UVM men’s soccer player to win the award, which has been given out every year since 1996. This also marks the third time in the past four years that a men’s soccer player has won the award. He was chosen from one of eight male student-athletes who were named scholar-athletes in their respective sports this year.
This past year Bazini was a Third-Team All-American while leading Vermont to an NCAA Championship. The striker finished as #AEMSOC’s leading scorer with 14 goals and tied an NCAA record by scoring in five consecutive NCAA Tournament games during the team’s run to the championship. He was selected to the NCAA All-Tournament Team, finishing with six goals in the NCAA Tournament.
Bazini graduated from Vermont with a 3.77 GPA as a business administration major. He appeared in 66 games over three seasons, with 31 goals and nine assists for 71 career points. Bazini was a three-time All-Conference selection and twice named First-Team All-Region. The Catamounts also went 11-2 in the NCAA Tournament during his three seasons.
Bazini currently plays professional soccer for Tormenta FC, of the USL League One. He’s second on his team with four goals, including a brace in the team’s most recent contest.
The Scholar-Athletes of the Year were voted on by the conference's Student-Athlete Engagement Committee. Each year, the committee elects a Scholar-Athlete in each of the league's 18 championship sports following the fall, winter and spring seasons and from that group, chooses one male and one female as the conference's Scholar-Athletes of the Year.
