Schneider is the second Black Bear to earn the honor, joining Liz Wood who was honored back in 2015, which has been given every year since 1996. She is also just the second soccer player to be named Scholar-Athlete of the Year, along with Amy Cochran back in 2005. She was chosen from 1 of 10 female student-athletes who were named scholar-athletes in their respective sports this year. This past year, Schneider earned Second-Team All-Region honors after leading Maine to its second straight conference championship. She was named the Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player as the anchor of a defense which became the first since 2010 to win the #AEWSOC Tournament without conceding a goal. She played 1620 of a possible 1620 minutes during the 2024 season as Maine went 13-2-3 overall for the highest win percentage (.853) by any #AEWSOC program since 2011. In the classroom Schneider excelled, graduating with a 3.98 GPA as a biology (pre-med) major with a neuroscience minor. She was also 1 of 12 students at Maine to earn a 2024-25 Academic Year EPIC Research and Creative Activities Fellowship. Schneider appeared in 68 games with 68 starts over her four-year career on defense. In her last three seasons, Maine went 20-2-8 against conference competition, winning the 2023 & 2024 tournament championships, as well as capturing the program’s first regular season title in 2024. The Scholar-Athletes of the Year were voted on by the conference's Student-Athlete Engagement Committee.
