UAlbany & Binghamton Stay Unbeaten on Day 2 of Northeast Delta Dental Baseball Championship

ORONO, Maine – No. 5 UAlbany continued its late-season surge with an 11-6 victory over No. 1 Bryant, while No. 3 Binghamton powered its way to a 15-10 victory and the Bulldogs staved off elimination with a 4-1 win in the nightcap on the second day of the Northeast Delta Dental Baseball Championship.

In the opener, Bryant led UAlbany 2-0 after two innings, but the Great Danes scored 3 in the 3rd, 3 in the 5th and two more in the 6th to grab an 8-4 lead. They held on for an 11-6 victory to advance to Friday.

It was a slugfest between NJIT and Binghamton as three different players had multi home run games. The Bearcats never trailed as they hit a grand slam in the first and stretched the lead to 12-5 in the fifth before finishing with the 15-10 win.

The Bulldogs’ three pitchers allowed just seven hits and one unearned run in the nightcap, while the offense produced three runs in the first two innings to hold on for a 4-1 victory over NJIT.

No. 3 Binghamton and No. 5 UAlbany were originally scheduled to play on Friday at 1 p.m., but that contest has been delayed due to inclement weather in the region. An update on the start time will be provided Friday morning. Bryant will play the loser of that contest.
