#AEMLAX Week 9: UMBC, Bryant, and UAlbany Secure Wins This Week

BOSTON – UMBC and Bryant currently sit atop the league standings after four weeks of play. The Retrievers dominated in a 14-4 win over UMass Lowell Friday, while Bryant and UAlbany also posted conference wins on Saturday.

The Bulldogs, led by Dawson Rielly, exploded for seven goals in the third quarter in a dominant win over NJIT on Saturday. Bryant is now 3-1 in conference play after back-to-back wins. UAlbany handed the Bearcats their first conference loss of the season. The Great Danes stormed back from an early 5-0 deficit to take down Binghamton on the road.

Conference play continues with another three-game slate as UMBC hosts Binghamton, UAlbany travels to Vermont, and UMass Lowell takes on NJIT on Saturday.

Offensive Player of the Week

Dawson Rielly, Bryant – Redshirt So., Attack, Plandome, N.Y.
  • Tallied six points in Bryant’s dominated win over NJIT on Saturday.
  • Had five goals and an assist.
  • This is Rielly’s second #AEMLAX Offensive Player of the Week honor this season.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Drew Lucas, Bryant – Sr., Defense, Peabody, Mass.
  • Helped hold NJIT to six goals in a win on Saturday
  • Collected four caused turnovers and four ground balls.
  • This is Lucas’s second #AEMLAX Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week
Connor McMahon, UMBC – Redshirt Jr., Goalkeeper, Stevensville, Md.
  • Recorded a career-high 12 saves in a win over UMass Lowell.
  • Had a .750 save percentage and added a caused turnover and a ground ball.
  • This is McMahons’ third #AEMLAX Goalkeeper of the Week honor this season.
 
Faceoff Specialist of the Week
Henry Dodge, Vermont – Jr., Faceoff Specialist, Westport, Conn.
  • Won 64.7% of faceoffs and added five groundballs against #4 Princeton.
  • This is Dodge’s sixth #AEMLAX Faceoff Specialist honor of the season.
 
Rookie of the Week
Owen West, Bryant – Fr., Attack, Rockville Centre, N.Y.
  • Recorded six points on three goals and three assists in a win over NJIT.
  • This West’s first career #AEMLAX Rookie of the Week honor.
